Rich Gold Mining History

The historic Kennedy Gold Mine located in Jackson is a great place to explore California’s rich gold mining history! Take a tour through underground tunnels and learn about how gold was mined during the Gold Rush era.

Roaring Camp is a unique destination for families seeking recreational activities. Located on the Mokulmne River, it is an old goldmining camp that was once inhabited by Forty Niners. Many of the gold deposits are still present today! Visitors can observe our gold mine in operation and enjoy activities such as panning, sluicing, dredging, and dry washing to find their own gold.

Black Chasm Cavern offers guided walking tours that last for 45 minutes. Guests will go down 165 steps to explore three beautiful chambers where they will see sparkling crystals, a vivid blue lake, and rare helictite formations that twist and curl in every direction from the cavern walls.

Sutter Creek and Jackson are both known for their antique shops which provide unique finds for collectors and shoppers alike! Browse through vintage items from furniture to jewelry and find something special to take home with you!

Amador County is located East of Sacramento and North East of Stockton, California. Travelers coming from the Sacramento, CA area would take HWY 16 to Jackson, CA. Travelers coming from the Stockton area would take HWY 88 to Jackson. Traveler coming from San Francisco, CA would take HWY 580 to HWY 205 to Stockton, CA.
